Having previously recommended people consider a move to the UK from March/April 2021, with the UK going into lockdown over the 2020/21 festive season to combat a rampant Covid-19 outbreak, we don’t recommend anyone goes right now. And given the growing seriousness of the situation, we don’t see it improving any time soon.
Our advice now is to wait and see what happens in the first half of 2021.
The UK need to vaccinate over 50 million people. That’s a lot of people. Even vaccinating 2 million people a week, all going well, it is still going to take 6 months.
So, we now suggest that people wait to see how that goes. It is hard to see the UK containing Covid-19 any other way.
And once the current health crisis has been contained, the economic consequences need to be addressed.
It is starting to feel like the economic recovery will be very much like a post-war re-build. That’s not all bad. Everything will have to be thrown at it. For people with the right skills, that will present unique opportunities.
